  • Early 90-ies

    Loss of the markets

The political changes in Europe, followed by the disintegration of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, caused sudden drop in the turnover of the company. DZU had to seek for new opportunities. New market niches were found and new productions were launched such as Compact disks, Telecommunication systems, Household appliances, Locking systems, Gas detectors, Lighting fittings, Energy Saving Lamps, High-frequency Electronic Ballasts etc.

  • Late 80-ies

    Summit

The state-owned company strengthened its position as the only manufacturer of disk drives in Eastern Europe. New generation of 3.5" HDD was implemented. In 1989 the turnover of the company amounted to 1.620 billion USD and in that year DZU was the company with the biggest profit in Bulgaria.

  • 1969-1987

    Expansion of disk drives range

A wide range of disk drives were put into production complying with the best world achievements - disk drives with removable disks, floppy disk drives and Winchester type hard disk drives.

  • 1968

    FOUNDATION

DZU was established for disk drive manufacturing. Its vertically integrated structure provided the manufacturing of basic assemblies and components built into the disk drives.
